Smoked Salmon Tartine
Salmon has always been one of my favorite foods. My eye always gravitates towards it on restaurant menus and smoked salmon is no exception. At home I make this delicious smoked salmon tartine frequently. This can be made on your favorite bakery bread or on an open-faced bagel. I have made it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have also served it alongside a frittata at brunch. It is always a favorite in my family.
Ingredients for Smoked Salmon Tartine
8 slices bakery bread, (sourdough, rye, whole grain, or bagels)
1/3 cup scallion cream cheese (for dairy free I like Treeline garlic soft cheese)
½ pound smoked salmon
2 tomatoes sliced thinly, or 16 cherry tomatoes halved
2 tablespoons capers
1 shallot sliced thinly
dill for garnish, fresh or dried
Directions for Smoked Salmon Tartine
Toast the bread in a toaster to your liking. Spread each piece of toast with scallion cream cheese, about 2 teaspoons per slice.
Cover each slice with a layer of smoked salmon. Evenly divide the tomatoes, capers, and sliced shallot on top of each slice. Sprinkle dill on top for garnish.
