Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce has always been one of my favorite additions to Thanksgiving. Somehow it just rounds the meal out perfectly and also looks beautiful on the table. My family has never been one for the gel shaped cranberry sauce, so we have always made it from scratch. This recipe has the perfect amount of tart and sweet with a hint of orange.
Ingredients
1 12 oz package fresh cranberries
1 orange, zested and juiced
½ teaspoon cardamom
½ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons Port wine
Directions
In a medium pan, add the cranberries, orange juice, cardamom, water, and brown sugar. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the orange zest and the Port wine and simmer another 15 minutes.
Let cool completely. Store in the refrigerator or freeze.
Makes about 2 cups
