Arnold Palmer Iced Tea
I vividly remember the first time I had an Arnold Palmer. I was at my cousin’s apartment for lunch one summer and she served us salad Niçoise and what I thought was iced tea. When I took a sip, I immediately started asking questions about the delicious drink I had just tasted. She told me it was an Arnold Palmer, a combination of iced tea and lemonade. My version uses fresh lemon juice and honey with black tea. It’s such a refreshing drink on a hot day and perfect for summer parties.
Ingredients for Arnold Palmer
8 black tea bags, I use English Breakfast or Earl Grey
½ cup honey
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
sliced lemons for garnish
fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Directions for Arnold Palmer
Heat 4 cups of water in a teapot. Add the tea bags to a large bowl or heat proof pitcher.
Once the water is hot, pour over the tea bags and let steep 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags, (squeezing the liquid out for maximum flavor,) add in the honey, and stir until dissolved.
Add in 4 cups of cold water and the cup of lemon juice and stir well. Serve over ice with fresh lemon slices and mint sprigs.
Serves 6-8
