Apple Butter Chai Latte
A few years ago, I had a pumpkin apple butter latte at one of our local coffee shops. It was so warming and festive it inspired me to make my own seasonal warm drink. Chai is one of my favorite fall flavors, so I decided to mix chai tea with apple butter and warmed milk and the result was delightful. I like to have some in the evening after dinner as I wind down from a busy day, but it is a nice treat any time of day. Alternately, you can also make this drink with pumpkin butter.
Apple Butter Chai Latte Ingredients
2 chai teabags
1 cup boiling water
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon apple butter (store bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
star anise for garnish (optional)
In a large mug, steep the teabags in the boiling water for 3-5 minutes. While tea is steeping, warm the milk, apple butter, and maple syrup (if using) in a small saucepan until heated through, stirring occasionally. Remove the teabags from the mug. I use an electric milk frother and froth the warm milk in the pan and then add to the tea but if you don’t have one you can just pour the warm milk on top of the tea. Garnish with a star anise for a seasonal touch.
